Muscatine Schools is hiring a Building Secretary for MHS. Secretaries are scheduled to work full-time (8 hrs/day) and year-round (12 months/year). This position offers an excellent benefits package. Wage is based on the AFSCME Union Wage Table for Muscatine Schools. Starting hourly wage is currently $19.04/hour. Essential functions/duties must be performed on-site.

Normal Work Day: Principal will assign schedule based upon student and building needs
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this position is to assist the Principal, staff and students by providing clerical and administrative support to the school’s main office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED. Associate’s Degree or higher is preferred. Prior experience working in an office environment is preferred. Must attend training on and demonstrate proficiency in school databases including Powerschool, Google Suite (docs, sheets, mail, calendar), finance/HR database, Absence Management, Visitor/Volunteer management system and other software used in the building. Must have prior experience completing data entry and word-processing. Bilingual skills are desirable. Certified to dispense medication. Mandatory Reporter certified.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the classroom including in/at desks, on or near the floor, standing, in movement while supervising indoor and outdoor activities, etc. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will work outdoors when supervising students outside of the classroom.
