Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Legal Secretary role based in Sacramento, CA.
The Legal Secretary will provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to attorneys, including preparing, formatting, and proofreading legal documents, correspondence, and filings related to Workers' Compensation and subrogation matters.
Responsibilities include managing attorney calendars and diaries, scheduling hearings and meetings, maintaining case files, and ensuring deadlines and court rules are met. The role also involves coordinating with clients, courts, and other parties, organizing documentation for hearings and trials, and handling general clerical duties such as filing, copying, mail processing, and data entry. The Legal Secretary will contribute to a professional, detail-oriented work environment and support the firm's commitment to quality legal service.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Law and familiarity with Workers' Compensation or related legal practice areas.
- Strong Legal Document Preparation skills, including drafting, formatting, and filing legal pleadings, motions, and correspondence.
- Experience supporting Legal Assistants and attorneys in a law firm or legal department setting.
- Proficient Clerical Skills, including filing, typing, document organization, and use of office equipment.
- Effective Diary Management skills, including scheduling, calendar coordination, and deadline tracking.
- Proficiency with legal case management software and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience as a legal secretary or legal administrative assistant, preferably in Workers' Compensation or insurance defense.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional legal secretarial training or certification is beneficial.
