Description
Hampton University is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and people-oriented Administrative Assistant to join its Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Homeland Security. The primary focus of this position is to streamline administrative processes, manage the department's day-to-day activities, and support the vision of the department chair. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to Hampton University's mission of delivering the #1 student experience.
Examples of Duties
- Coordinate and support the daily administrative operations of the department.
- Manage schedules, meetings, correspondence, and departmental records.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
- Assist with processing forms, reports, and other departmental documentation.
- Support departmental events, guest speakers, and special projects.
- Perform other duties assigned by the department chair.
Typical Qualifications
- Preferred: Associate degree or higher with administrative experience.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other software applications.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
