The Senior Administrative Assistant provides high-level administrative and editorial support to Prof. Joan W. Bennett and her laboratory. This part-time position (10 hours per week) is responsible for managing correspondence, supporting manuscript and grant preparation, and maintaining organized research documentation.
The incumbent will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) to facilitate scholarly activities, including formatting manuscripts for publication, preparing grant submissions, and developing presentations. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong language and organizational skills who can manage multiple priorities independently in a research-focused environment.
This position requires discretion, precision in document preparation, and the ability to effectively support academic and research operations with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated proficiency in professional and academic writing.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to prepare, edit, and format academic documents, manuscripts, grant proposals, and presentations.
• Proficiency in using digital platforms to organize and manage documents and research materials.
• High attention to detail, particularly in formatting and proofreading scholarly materials.
• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Professional judgment and discretion in handling sensitive or confidential information.
Required Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years’ directly related experience.
• Demonstrated experience supporting document preparation, editing, or project coordination.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting grant proposal development and submission processes.
• Familiarity with academic publishing standards and manuscript submission systems.
• Experience working in a university or research laboratory environment.
