Job Description
The Administrative Assistant – PACE Programs will provide general administrative support for the PACE Programs (Pathways for Academic Career and Employment Act, 2014 Iowa Code Chapter 260H), as assigned by the Director and Assistant Director. General duties include, but are not limited to: overall support of Program staff functions, correspondence, records control, assisting visitors, and general office operations. Specific expectations include: attention to detail, adherence to specific college and government rules and regulations, routine records management, data collection and input, and proficiency with computer applications. Ethical, energetic and positive demeanor is essential. This is a part-time position (1,044 hours) with an hourly wage of $14.72. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, $50,000 life insurance, long-term disability, paid sick leave, paid vacation, paid spring and holiday breaks and participation in IPERS or TIAA retirement plan. Terms of employment are per bargaining agreement between SCC Board of Trustees and the SCCESA , employment contract and relevant policies of the Board of Trustees.

Required Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience: Education: High School diploma/equivalent required. AA degree or AAS in Office Administration preferred. Experience: Minimum two years related experience in office administration required, experience within an education setting preferred Competency with mathematical functions, grammar, punctuation and proofreading required. Experience managing records, creating/tracking of reports/projects, scheduling appointments and working with confidential information preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including telephone/social media etiquette appropriate for a professional workplace. Superior competency with Microsoft Office programs specifically in Word & Excel; ability to learn and develop competency in SCC’s administrative software (Ellucian). Keyboarding proficiency/accuracy and excellent proofreading ability. Preference given to candidates with: Experience managing grant funded projects; Experience working with low-income, low-skilled, and low-educated individuals and persons from diverse backgrounds. Special consideration given to candidates with background similar to the program’s target audience Ability to: Operate standard office equipment and manage filing systems. Operate multiline telephone systems. Learn and develop competency in new software applications. Maintain strict confidentiality. Manage, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks with proficiency and timeliness in spite of regular interruptions. Work independently and be a self-starter, including conducting research relevant to routine responsibilities and assigned tasks. Work effectively, cooperatively, and cordially with people of diverse background and needs. Maintain a professional, courteous, and positive demeanor while effectively dealing with varied and stressful situations.
