We are seeking a dependable, compassionate Ward Secretary to provide quality patient care and clerical support under the supervision of an RN. This position serves patients from newborn through geriatric populations and supports nursing and medical staff in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with patient care, ADLs, admissions, transfers, transportation, and vital signs.
Monitor telemetry and recognize/report changes in cardiac rhythms to the RN.
Maintain accurate patient records, telemetry documentation, and unit logs.
Collect, label, and transport specimens appropriately.
Support patient and family needs while maintaining safety and comfort.
Perform clerical duties, including phone communication, supply ordering, and Meditech documentation.
Maintain unit supplies and assist with training new staff.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Current CNA, Patient Care Technician, Basic EMT, or Colorado LPN licensure/certification.
BLS certification required or obtainable within 60 days.
One year of relevant unit secretary experience preferred.
Medical terminology and ECG/arrhythmia training preferred.
Strong communication, customer service, teamwork, and organizational skills.
