Position Overview
Minnesota Valley Alternative Learning Center (MVALC) is seeking a dependable, self-motivated Long-Term Substitute Administrative Assistant to manage day-to-day office operations during a four-month staff leave. As the primary point of contact for the ALC, you will support staff, students, and families while keeping office workflow running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Office Management & Reception: Serve as primary receptionist, greet visitors, answer calls, route inquiries, and manage incoming/outgoing communications.
- Student Data & MARSS (JMC System): Assist with student registration, attendance tracking, report cards, transcripts, and inputting student information data into JMC.
- Records Maintenance: Organize and maintain secure files for active/inactive students, special education records, and office administrative forms.
- Student Support: Handle basic student health needs/medication administration in the absence of a nurse, and assist with program materials (event flyers, registration packets).
- Administrative Support: Work closely with the MVALC Principal to ensure consistent communication across staff, families, and district administration.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; post-secondary administrative or clerical training preferred.
- 3+ years of clerical/office experience preferred (school office experience a plus).
- Familiarity with student information systems (JMC preferred) or strong adaptability to data software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid Minnesota Driver's License.
Working Conditions
This position is an in-person role with typical hours of 7:30 - 3:30 daily.
The environment for the role is a standard school office, with sedentary work involving occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
Daily interaction with students, staff, and the public.
