The City of Kodiak is recruiting for a temporary Administrative Assistant. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for performing a broad range of administrative and general support duties in support of a department that could include: providing customer service to citizens, working with other employees and answering routine questions in person or on the telephone; assisting in receiving and processing payments; data entry; receiving, scanning and filing reports; creating and maintaining records for the department; maintaining all related procedural documentation and compliance; and provides general office support to the department.
***Temporary employment not to exceed six (6) months.***
Must have a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED). At least two to three years of customer service or administrative support experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Must have a valid Alaska driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally performed in an office environment. Non-standard work hours may be required.
