Qualifications
- State of Illinois fingerprinting and background check in compliance with state code and district policy requirements. A fingerprint-based criminal history records check and a check of the Statewide Sex Offender Database and Violent Offender Against Youth Database (when available) will be performed on the successful candidate as required by State law. Each newly hired employee must complete an Immigration and Naturalization Service Form as required by federal law.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous secretarial or administrative assistant experience in a school setting preferred.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Drive, Calendar, and Gmail) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of student information systems (Skyward preferred) and standard office equipment.
- Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and time-management skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced school environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, families, staff, and community members.
Position Overview
The Elementary School Secretary serves as the primary administrative support for Anne M. Jeans Elementary School and assists the Building Principal in ensuring the efficient operation of the school office. The secretary provides outstanding customer service to students, staff, parents, and visitors while maintaining accurate records, coordinating communications, and supporting daily school operations.
This position plays an essential role in creating a welcoming, organized, and professional environment that supports student success and effective school operations.
Performance Responsibilities

Office Operations & Customer Service
- Serves as the primary receptionist by greeting students, parents, staff, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Answers, screens, and directs incoming telephone calls and responds to routine inquiries.
- Maintains visitor sign-in procedures and building security protocols.
- Receives, sorts, and distributes mail, deliveries, and correspondence.
- Maintains an organized, professional, and welcoming front office environment.
- Operates and maintains standard office equipment and office supplies.
Administrative Support
- Provides clerical and administrative support to the Building Principal and school staff.
- Maintains calendars, schedules appointments, and coordinates meetings and school events.
- Prepares correspondence, reports, newsletters, forms, and other school communications.
- Maintains accurate student records, attendance records, and cumulative files in accordance with district procedures.
- Assists with student enrollment, registration, withdrawals, and records requests.
- Supports substitute teacher coordination and daily attendance reporting.
- Assists with student dismissal procedures and parent communication.
- Maintains office files and ensures timely completion of assigned clerical duties.
Communication & School Support
- Serves as a liaison between students, families, staff, and the community by providing courteous and timely assistance.
- Assists with school events, parent conferences, and district initiatives as assigned.
- Supports communication between the school and families through phone calls, emails, newsletters, and other communication platforms.
- Assists teachers and staff with clerical tasks and instructional support materials as needed.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintains confidentiality regarding students, staff, and district operations in accordance with federal and state laws.
- Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
- Supports the mission, vision, and goals of Burr Ridge CCSD 180.

Salary and Benefits
- Salary and benefits shall be in accordance with the CCSD 180 support staff employment agreement.

- Standard workday established by the district calendar and employment agreement.
Evaluation
