The Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is seeking an individual to work in public service as a Secretary in the Office of General Counsel. As a Secretary 9, you will be responsible for providing advanced level administrative/secretarial support to the FIU supervisor and staff within the Office of General Counsel as assigned. Other duties may include opening and closing files, tracking deadlines and maintaining databases. This job also includes preparing, receiving and transmitting correspondence, preparing reports and documents related to investigations. Additional duties include scheduling meetings and assisting in creating and revising forms, processes, procedures, and correspondence.

Note: The “Salary” listed above is a range, and the final salary is determined by the selected candidate’s education and experience.
Work Location: This is an in-person position based in Lansing, Michigan, with the possibility for a hybrid work schedule where you would work from home up to three days per week, following a training period if approved.
Work must be performed in Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.

Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Four years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including one year equivalent to advanced 8-level administrative support work, or equivalent to a Secretary E8, or Legal Secretary E8.
OR
Four years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including two years equivalent to experienced E7-level administrative support work, or equivalent to a Secretary 7, or Legal Secretary 7.
Certain positions may require a criminal history background check.
