The Administrative Assistant 5 serves as the executive-level assistant to the Corrections Warden of Elayn Hunt Correctional Center. This position is entrusted with managing highly complex, sensitive, and confidential administrative responsibilities essential to the leadership and daily operations of the facility. The incumbent must demonstrate strong organizational judgment, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting executive decision-making. Success in this role requires maintaining in-depth knowledge of Department of Corrections regulations, institutional policies, and operational procedures to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant administrative support across all functional areas of the facility.

Minimum Qualifications
Four years of experience in administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Serves as a confidential liaison to the warden. As a member of the facility’s executive staff, the incumbent will attend private meetings, receive and communicate (orally and in writing) highly sensitive and confidential information, and be solely responsible for the maintenance of confidential material materials.
- Incumbent independently composes correspondence, reports, and directives for the Warden’s signature, using own initiative and knowledge of wardens Philosophy.
- The incumbent screens all mail and phone calls on behalf of the Warden and makes the determination on what should be delivered to the Warden and what can be handled by various division department heads.
- Ensures that information/directives/requests from Headquarters staff received by the Warden‘s office are properly and timely responded to and or disseminated among all concerned.

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
- Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
- An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
- This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
