POSITION: Counseling Secretary
LOCATION: Kenowa Hills High School
HOURS: 8 hrs per day, Monday – Friday (40 hrs/week; less than 44 weeks/year). The ideal candidate could train in May, 2026 to begin work in August, 2026.
PAY RATE: Per Board Authorized Support Staff Pay Schedule.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize and maintain CA60 files
- Provide administrative support to the High School counseling staff as well as the Transitions Coordinator
- Assist with maintaining student academic records in student information system (Powerschool) associated with middle college, dual enrollment, KCTC and college and career preparation programs.
- Data entry including but not limited to; Updating student GPA, processing student transcripts in Parchment, facilitate college related activities (representative visits, college application waivers, college campus visits etc)
- Facilitate new student intake appointments for the counseling office
- Provide a welcoming environment to students, parents and staff accessing the counseling office
- Keep track of the MTSS PBIS programs and activities
- Support Counseling and district coordinator with 504 development and roll-out, including scheduling 504s at the coordinators' request.
- Maintain Confidentiality at all times
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects on an ongoing basis.
- Possesses a friendly, outgoing personality with the ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with parents, students & staff.
- Ability to generate and manage a secondary class schedule
- Excellent organizational and time management skills. Detail oriented.
- Proven confidentiality, strong analytical and problem solving skills are needed.
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree and successful secretarial experience are preferred but not required.
- Must possess a sound knowledge of spelling, grammar and punctuation via written or orally.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team on group projects when necessary.
- The ability to work flexible hours and an excellent work attendance record is required.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in the use of Power School and Microsoft programs.
WORK LOCATION REQUIREMENT
This position is an in-person role and requires regular, on-site attendance at the assigned work location. The essential functions of this position cannot be performed remotely.

The work environment may include:
- Providing instruction in a variety of settings, including classrooms and small group intervention spaces
- Frequent transitions and movement between instructional groups
- Moderate to occasionally high noise levels
This role also requires:
- Supporting students with a range of academic needs, including students who may require redirection or support with engagement
- Implementing instructional strategies and interventions with consistency and fidelity
- Monitoring and responding to student needs in real time during instruction
- The ability to collaborate with classroom teachers and intervention teams to support student progress.
The employee will occasionally lift and/or move instructional materials and equipment (up to 25 pounds).
