PURPOSE OF JOB: Under the direction of the Director of Healthcare, performs various administrative duties related to the efficient administrative operation of the Health Care Center. This position supports the Healthcare Management Team by ensuring accurate census and payer information, insurance verification, admission processing, billing coordination, regulatory compliance, and timely completion of reports and documentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Supports the Healthcare Management Team
- Operate within policy procedure and State, Federal and local requirements
- Coordinate BOM functions with other departments
- Check insurance eligibility for all residents Preadmission & monthly for any changes
- Meet established daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
- Maintain accurate census in coordination with other departments
- Verify accurate payer data on all accounts, MCR, SSN, Tricare sponsor information
- Medicare and Tricare vendor billing invoices - coding and verification
- Assistance to Residents' for claims on their Long Term Care Insurance policies
- Complete Admission Contracts, verify all forms are completed, signed and uploaded
- Tricare form-statement of personal injury
- Monitor bad debt level to avoid significant increase
- Act as financial billing liaison between the facility and residents or families
- Coordinates with Rehab Director to upload insurance verification for IL residents for Part B Therapy
- Set up part B for IL residents, census line and enter diagnosis codes
- Complete monthly occupancy and death report timely
- Serve on committees where applicable
- Maintain confidentiality of records
- Observe safety policies and procedures
- Complete authorization for managed care patients
- Complete 30-day authorization for Tricare patients
- Assist in gathering requested documentation for WIPFI/Audits
- Acquire ID cards for Medicare/Tricare
- Preform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have an Associate degree in Business or similar field or two or more years’ experience in long-term care as a business office manager.
- Must have previous long term care billing experience.
- Must be detail-oriented, and have the ability to multi-task, and have excellent time-management skills.
- Must exhibit a professional demeanor with ability to work in a collaborative environment, maintaining a positive professional attitude while participating in group discussions during meetings.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality and exhibit trustworthy and ethical behavior at all times.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
- Must be available to work typical business hours (Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm) with additional availability during evening and weekend hours if needed
ENVIRONMENTAL, PHYSICAL, AND OTHER CONDITIONS:
- Must pass criminal background check (clear of offenses barring employment by facility’s regulatory and accrediting agencies)
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and sit for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to push, pull, lift up and transfer loads up to 50 pounds
- Possess valid Texas Driver’s license to drive in/out or within the facility
