Job Summary
Under general supervision, this position provides frontline customer service and administrative support for the Engineering and Public Works Departments, including assisting at the front desk, responding to public inquiries, and supporting daily office operations. Logs citizen concerns/complaints into the database, collecting payments, issuing Right-of-Way and Land Development Permits, receives plans, and any related tasks as necessary. Performs a range of clerical tasks such as data entry, scanning, and correspondence. Tasks are mainly recurring in nature and are performed in a structured environment with established procedures and practices. This position reports to the City Engineer and Public Works Administrator.
Essential Functions
Greets customers, answers the phone, and provides customer service.
Collects and records payments, issues receipts, and verifies payment accuracy.
Logs concerns/complaints into the database.
Assists with issuing permits.
Receives plans from walk-in citizens.
Performs general administrative duties including but not limited to scanning, indexing files, preparing and sending correspondence, assisting customers, and data entry.
Prepares and generates information such as reports, permits, and deposits.
Refers to maps, files, resolutions, and ordinances.
Assists with special projects as needed.
Utilizes a variety of computer software to include Incode, Microsoft Suite, Google Workspace, Citizenserve, and GIS.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or its equivalent and one (1) year of experience in a job related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special Qualifications
Valid Driver’s License.
Successful applicant must pass a criminal background check (including driving history) and a pre-employment physical.
