Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
The Secretary of Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic marketing and communications plan for the Student Government Association as outlined in the most updated version of the Student Government Association bylaws.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work closely with the SGA Executive team to ensure efficient publicity and compliance with SGA style guidelines, including developing and facilitating SGA Marketing training in the Fall.

Create posters, brochures, and other materials as requested.

Identify marketing priorities and develop PR campaigns (using print, web, special events, etc.) to advertise events and initiatives of SGA.

Appoint an SGA Marketing and Communications Team and lead them in creating marketing materials and web content.

Collaborate with the SGA President, SGA Vice President, and other relevant SGA leaders to establish marketing guidelines for big events and coordinate marketing efforts for special campaigns.

Assist in the selection and training of the next SGA Secretary of Marketing and Communications in collaboration with the incoming SGA President and Vice President, including completing a transition report.

Maintain three weekly office hours in the Office of Student Activities (BC 108)
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)

Graphic design skills

Familiarity with or ability to learn programs within the Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.

Ability to meet deadlines

Competent communication and collaboration skills.

Strong leadership and teamwork abilities.

Must be of sophomore standing or higher at the time in which the position is assumed.

Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Must not be found in violation of any St. Olaf policies.
