In order to best serve our leaders, visitors, and our students our Department of Political Science at Radford University has an opening for a highly-motivated Administrative Assistant. Our Administrative Assistants are forward-facing in their communication and in their representation of the University’s core mission, vision, and culture . The successful candidate for the Administrative Assistant will provide professional administrative service and support for the Department of Political Science. Maintain records and serve as resource contact for department information. Manage all aspects of the department’s budget including but not limited to travel, purchases, receiving and reconciliation within mandated guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrable positive customer service attitude Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and equipment Experience providing administrative or programmatic support Comfort setting priorities while working with little supervision Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and internet research Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to relate well with a variety of people.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrable excellence in customer service Experience designing promotional materials (flyers, brochures) Knowledge of website maintenance Experience in a university setting, including student systems database (such as Banner), automated personnel administration (such as FLAC and PeopleAdmin), electronic purchasing systems (such as eVA);
