JOB OPENING - MEETING AND RECORDING SECRETARY
Board of Planning and Community Development (BPCD) Meeting Secretary
Town of Athol
The Town of Athol is seeking qualified individuals to serve as meeting and recording secretary for the Board of Planning and Community Development (BPCD). The BPCD typically meets on the first Wednesday of each month @ 7:00 p.m. with the meetings generally running two hours in length. Occasionally during development reviews, master plan development and zoning bylaw development, the Board will hold a second meeting during the month.
Primary responsibilities include attending evening BPCD meetings, generating draft meeting minutes (which serve as the official record of the meeting), and preparing and posting final, approved meeting minutes. Additional assistance maybe requested as needed with preparing meeting agendas working with direction from the Board Chairperson and Director of Planning and Development. The secretary needs to be aware of the timelines to prepare and post agendas as well as have the BPCD accept the minutes in accordance with the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law. Evening meetings typically last two hours.
This position is a per diem, non-benefitted position. Compensation is $80.00 per meeting for preparation and posting of agenda, attendance at meeting and submittal of draft and final minutes. The rate does not vary although some meetings may run less than two hours and some may run over two hours. Additional opportunities for minute-taking with other Town board and committees may be a future possibility.
