Title: Substitute Secretary
Summary: North Penn School District is seeking on-call support staff personnel to provide substitute clerical/secretarial support in our elementary schools, secondary schools, and Educational Service Center.
Rate: $18.00/hr., New rate starting September 11, 2024.
Responsibilities: These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed.
Performs various clerical tasks as assigned by the building administrators or office manager.
Provides customer service to students, parents, staff, and the community, including answering phones, greeting and directing visitors, resolving conflict, disseminating information, etc.
Operates a variety of office equipment.
Sorts and distributes mail (internal and external).
Maintains a high level of confidentiality of records and information gained while performing the duties and uses discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
Prepares and processes various district documents to meet district, state and/or federal regulations.
Performs data entry, word processing, spreadsheet, and database functions as requested.
Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Performs other duties as directed by the school administration.
Education and Experience Required:
High School Diploma or GED
Related experience or training in clerical tasks.
Knowledge of:
Standard office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Requisite Skills:
Excellent interpersonal/customer service skills.
Effective communication, both written and verbal, and the ability to interact with a wide array of constituents, including students, parents, faculty/staff, and maintain appropriate confidentiality.
Strong organizational skills.
Skill in using typical office equipment/technology, including the ability to file and maintain accurate records.
Strong skills in computer programs/software / web-based applications including, but not limited to Google.
Flexibility and adaptability in multitasking, which includes the support of the Principal and Assistant Principal.
Ability to:
Ability to understand and take oral and written directions, exercise appropriate judgment, and demonstrate initiative.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with extreme attention to detail
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to type accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed.
